The data problems I can help with
Most lost-file situations come down to a few shapes. If yours looks like one of these, there's a real chance I can get your files back on the spot.
Computer won't boot
The machine is dead, stuck on a logo, or blue-screening, but the drive itself may be fine. I pull or clone the drive, read your files off it directly, and copy them somewhere safe — even when the computer around it is done.
Accidentally deleted files
Emptied the recycle bin, formatted the wrong drive, or a folder vanished after an update. If the space hasn't been overwritten yet, deleted files can often be recovered — which is exactly why you want to stop using that drive right away.
A failing hard drive
Slow, freezing, weird noises, or Windows warning about disk errors. A drive on its way out can usually be cloned while it still spins. The sooner I clone it, the better the odds of getting a clean copy before it quits for good.
Before a reinstall or upgrade
Planning to wipe Windows, swap in an SSD, or move to a new machine? I pull your documents, photos, and settings off first so nothing gets lost in the shuffle, then set them back up on the fresh install.
Getting data onto a new drive
Sometimes recovery just means moving everything off a shaky old drive and onto a healthy replacement. I copy your files across, verify they opened, and hand you back a machine you can trust again.
Not sure what's wrong
If you just know your files are stuck and you can't get to them, that's enough to start. The diagnostic tells us whether the drive is readable and what recovery would actually involve before you commit to anything.
Where I stop, and where honesty matters most
This is on-site recovery from readable drives — not a clean-room lab. If your drive is physically damaged, making a clicking sound, dropped hard, or hit by water or fire, opening it up here would only make things worse. In those cases I'll tell you straight that it's a specialist clean-room job and point you toward a proper data-recovery lab, rather than risk the files you're trying to save. I won't promise recovery I can't safely deliver.
A gentle but real warning: if a drive is failing, stop using it. Every minute it keeps running, or every file you save to it, can overwrite the very data you want back. Power it down and let me look sooner rather than later — the earlier I get to it, the better the odds. I still can't guarantee recovery, though; some data genuinely can't be brought back, and you only ever pay for work you approve.
Every visit starts with the flat $49.99 travel and diagnostic fee — it covers the trip anywhere in the Charlotte area and a full hands-on look at whether your drive is readable and what recovery would take. If you go ahead with a job of $125 or more in labor, that fee comes off the bill. Parts, like a replacement drive to copy your data onto, are bought separately. See exactly how a visit works.
